Champix tablets can help reduce or control your nicotine cravings. Champix attaches to the brain's nicotine receptors, hence reducing cravings. Smoking, therefore, becomes less pleasurable because of the reward system that's blocked. Champix has so far proven to double the chances of one permanently stopping smoking.
What is the Champix Continuation Pack used for?
The Champix Continuation Pack is designed to help individuals who have already started their smoking cessation journey with the Champix Starter Pack. It aids in maintaining the momentum of quitting smoking by continuing to reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms associated with nicotine dependence.
How does Champix work?
Champix contains varenicline, which targets nicotine receptors in the brain. It blocks nicotine from binding to these receptors, reducing the pleasurable effects of smoking. Additionally, it stimulates the receptors to alleviate cravings and withdrawal symptoms, making smoking cessation more manageable.
What is the recommended dosage for Champix Continuation Pack?
After completing the initial starter pack, the typical dosage is 1mg taken twice daily. It is important to continue this regimen for the prescribed duration, usually up to 12 weeks, to maximize the chances of successfully quitting smoking.
What are the common side effects of Champix?
Common side effects include nausea, headaches, changes in dreams, insomnia, and dizziness. Most side effects are mild and temporary, but if you experience severe or persistent symptoms, consult your healthcare provider.
Can I take Champix with other medications?
You should inform your doctor about any other medications you are taking. Champix may interact with other drugs, so it's important for your healthcare provider to review your medications to avoid potential interactions.
How should I store Champix?
Store Champix tablets in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children. Follow any specific storage instructions provided by your pharmacist.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Champix. There have been reports of depression, suicidal ideation and behaviour and suicide attempts in patients taking Champix. If you are taking Champix and develop agitation, depressed mood, changes in behaviour that are of concern to you or your family or if you develop suicidal thoughts or behaviours you should stop taking Champix and contact your prescriber immediately for treatment assessment. Do not take Champix if you are allergic to varenicline or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
Always take this medicine exactly as your prescriber has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. You are more likely to stop smoking if you are motivated to stop. Your doctor and pharmacist can provide advice, support and sources of further information to help ensure your attempt to stop smoking is successful.
