About Tranexamic Acid Tablets – Heavy Period Treatment

Tranexamic Acid Tablets are not suitable for everyone.

Do not use Tranexamic Acid if you are allergic to Tranexamic acid or any of the tablet’s ingredients. An allergic reaction may manifest as rash, swelling, or itching.

If you have serious kidney issues, such as kidney failure, this medication may not be appropriate for you. Consult your doctor if you have a history of kidney problems.

Avoid using this medication if you have a current or past history of blood clots, including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism. Tranexamic Acid can affect blood clotting and might increase the risk of complications. This condition, where blood clots form throughout the body, is a contraindication for Tranexamic Acid use.

If you have a history of seizures or convulsions, this medication might not be suitable for you. Discuss your medical history with your healthcare provider before use.

If you are taking hormonal contraceptives, consult your doctor before starting Tranexamic Acid, as there may be a slight increase in the risk of blood clots.

If you have irregular menstrual bleeding or it has not been investigated, do not use this medication until a diagnosis has been made.

Tranexamic Acid is not recommended during pregnancy due to insufficient safety data. For breastfeeding mothers, while the medication is generally considered safe, consult your doctor if you have concerns.

Always inform your healthcare provider of your complete medical history and any other medications you are taking to avoid potential interactions or complications.

To use Tranexamic Acid Tablets effectively, follow these directions:

– Dosage: Take two tablets three times daily. The treatment should be used for a maximum of four consecutive days, starting on the first day of your menstrual bleeding.
– Administration: Ensure you do not exceed a total of six tablets per day. Taking the medication with or without food is acceptable, depending on your preference and tolerance.
– Missed Dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose—do not double up to make up for it.

If you accidentally take more than the recommended dose, you may experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, or dizziness. In such cases, contact your healthcare provider for advice. Set reminders if you have trouble remembering to take your medication on time.
