Frequently Asked Questions
Alli Capsules are used for weight loss in adults who are overweight, with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 28 or above. They work by blocking the absorption of about 25% of the fat in your meals, which is then passed out of your body in your stools.
Take one capsule three times a day with each main meal that contains fat. Swallow the capsule whole with water, either just before, during, or up to an hour after the meal. Do not take more than three capsules per day.
If you miss a dose and it is within an hour of your last meal, take the missed capsule as soon as you remember. If more than an hour has passed, skip the missed dose and continue with your next scheduled dose. Do not take two capsules to make up for a missed one.
Common side effects include oily or fatty stools, increased bowel movements, and an urgent need to defecate. These effects are generally related to the way Alli works and can be managed by eating a low-fat diet.
Serious side effects, although rare, include severe allergic reactions (such as difficulty breathing and swelling of the face), pancreatitis, and severe stomach pain. If you experience any severe side effects, stop taking Alli and seek medical attention immediately.
Yes, it is recommended to follow a reduced-calorie, lower-fat diet while taking Alli to manage side effects and enhance weight loss effectiveness. Including a multivitamin supplement containing vitamins A, D, E, and K is also advised, as Alli can reduce the absorption of these fat-soluble vitamins.
Alli Capsules should not be used for more than six months. If you do not lose at least 5% of your body weight after 12 weeks, it may be advisable to stop taking Alli and consult your doctor for further advice.
