What is Wegovy maintenance?
Wegovy maintenance is the stage of treatment where your focus changes from actively losing weight to keeping your weight relatively stable.
Reaching your goal weight does not necessarily mean that you must immediately stop treatment. Subject to clinical suitability, your prescriber can help you consider whether continuing or adjusting your Wegovy dose is appropriate.
There is no universal target weight for entering maintenance. Your goal weight will be personal to you and may depend on your starting weight, health, lifestyle and individual preferences.
Who qualifies for Wegovy maintenance?
You may qualify for Wegovy maintenance through WePrescribe if you have been using treatment continuously and have reached a weight you would now like to maintain.
We can support eligible maintenance patients down to a minimum BMI of 20.5. We cannot continue prescribing Wegovy if your BMI falls below this level.

Moving from weight loss to maintenance
Existing WePrescribe patients can discuss moving into maintenance once they have reached a weight they are comfortable with.
There is no separate maintenance programme or fixed target weight that you must achieve. Maintenance simply means that you are no longer actively trying to lose weight and are now looking to keep your weight at approximately the same level.
We will discuss your weight, appetite, current Wegovy dose, treatment response and future goals before agreeing on an appropriate maintenance approach.
Transfer your Wegovy maintenance treatment
We can consider patients transferring ongoing Wegovy maintenance treatment from another registered provider.
To qualify, you must have used Wegovy continuously without a gap in treatment. We will ask for evidence of your previous prescriptions, current dose, recent weight and treatment history.
You may still be eligible if your current BMI is below the usual BMI threshold for starting weight-loss treatment. This is because your current BMI may reflect the progress you have already made while using Wegovy.
Your BMI must be at least 20.5, and your transfer must be approved by a clinical prescribing pharmacist.
Finding the right Wegovy maintenance dose
Wegovy maintenance dosing is considered individually. Your clinical team will help determine an appropriate approach based on your progress, treatment response and overall suitability.
Your maintenance plan may take into account:
- Your current weight and BMI
- Your current Wegovy dose
- How stable your weight has become
- Changes in your appetite
- The level of appetite suppression you experience
- Any side effects
- Your maintenance goals
- Your overall clinical suitability
Where clinically appropriate, your prescriber may recommend gradually adjusting your dose while monitoring your appetite and weight.
If your appetite increases significantly or your weight begins to change, we can review your treatment and discuss whether your current dose continues to provide an appropriate level of support.
Never change your Wegovy dose without speaking to your prescriber.
How we monitor your treatment
We will continue monitoring your health, weight and treatment response throughout Wegovy maintenance.
You will be asked to submit updated evidence of your weight and recent photographs every month. This helps our clinical team confirm that your weight remains within an appropriate range and your BMI is not falling below 20.5.
If you continue losing weight when you are trying to maintain it, please contact the clinical team. We may need to review your dose or wider treatment plan.

Free video consultations and support from the wider WePrescribe clinical team will remain available whenever required.
Wegovy maintenance prices
Wegovy maintenance is currently charged at the same price as our standard Wegovy treatment service.
Eligible returning customers can continue to benefit from available returning-customer discounts. The price of your treatment may depend on the Wegovy dose prescribed.
