Telfast Tablets - Hayfever Treatment

Telfast contains fexofenadine hydrochloride, which is a non-drowsy antihistamine. Telfast 120 mg is used in adults to relieve the symptoms that occur with hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis) such as sneezing, itchy, runny or blocked nose and itchy, red and watery eyes.

What is Telfast used for?

Telfast is an antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis) and chronic urticaria (hives) in adults and children over 12 years old. It helps alleviate symptoms like sneezing, runny or itchy nose, itchy or watery eyes, and itchy skin rashes.

How should I take Telfast?

For adults and children aged 12 years and over, the recommended dose is one tablet (120 mg or 180 mg) daily, taken with water before a meal. Try to take it at the same time each day. Do not take more than the prescribed dose.

What are the common side effects of Telfast?

Common side effects include headaches, drowsiness, dizziness, and nausea. If you experience any serious side effects such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing, stop taking the medication and seek medical attention immediately.

Can I take Telfast with other medications?

Some medications, such as antacids containing aluminium or magnesium, can interfere with the absorption of Telfast. It is recommended to leave about 2 hours between taking Telfast and any antacid. Always consult your doctor before starting any new medications.

Is Telfast safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Telfast is generally not recommended during pregnancy unless necessary. If you are breastfeeding, consult your doctor, as there is limited information on the safety of Telfast for nursing infants.

Who should not take Telfast?

Do not take Telfast:

• - if you are allergic to fexofenadine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine

• - you have problems with your liver or kidneys
• - you have or ever had heart disease, since this kind of medicine may lead to a fast or irregular heartbeat
• - you are elderly

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has instructed you to. For adults:

• - The recommended dose is one tablet (120 mg) daily.
• - Take your tablet with water before a meal.
• - This medicine starts to relieve your symptoms within 1 hour and lasts for 24 hours.

The active substance is fexofenadine hydrochloride. Each tablet contains 180 mg of fexofenadine hydrochloride. Other ingredients include microcrystalline cellulose, pregelatinised maize starch, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate.

Tell your healthcare professional immediately and stop taking Telfast if you experience:

• - swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat and difficulty breathing, as these may be signs of a serious allergic reaction.
