Frequently Asked Questions
Elocon Ointment is a potent topical corticosteroid used to treat inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of skin conditions such as psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. It helps reduce redness, itching, and swelling associated with these conditions.
Apply a thin layer of Elocon Ointment to the affected area of skin once daily. Gently rub it in. Do not use it on your face for more than 5 days, and avoid using it on children under 2 years old unless directed by a doctor.
Common side effects include burning, stinging, itching, and thinning of the skin. Rare side effects can include hormonal changes, puffiness or rounding of the face, and delayed growth in children if used excessively.
Elocon Ointment is generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless prescribed by a doctor. It is important to consult your healthcare provider to weigh the potential risks and benefits.
Avoid using Elocon Ointment on infected skin or areas with ulcerated wounds. Do not use it under occlusive dressings or bandages unless advised by your doctor. If you experience blurred vision or other visual disturbances, contact your doctor immediately.
Elocon Ointment is not recommended for children under the age of 2. For children over 2, it should not be used on large areas of the body or for prolonged periods. Always consult a doctor before using it on children.
If you miss a dose of Elocon Ointment, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not apply extra ointment to make up for the missed dose.
